Traralgon’s local restaurant and bistro

Traralgon RSL is your local destination for quality dining, relaxing drinks and unbeatable entertainment. Our restaurant, bistro, bar, gaming and entertainment venues are Traralgon staples, showcasing true hospitality and the friendly service we’re known for. As with many great things, we boast a strong and lengthy community history that has grounded us in Traralgon’s past.

Our history

Over the past 62 years the Traralgon RSL has continued to evolve. After a long search for a permanent location, home of then Councilor Clarence Clarke was purchased on Kay Street. Traralgon RSL still operates in the same location today. The site was turned into a clubroom in 1949 thanks to volunteer labour, allowing meetings and gatherings to be held in its rooms. Work on a kitchen extension began in 1952 and a liquor license was obtained in 1954, however restricted to only RSL members. As a result, the club title became Traralgon Returned Serviceman’s Club, opening in 1956. By 1970, after much effort, the clubs first bowling green was established in 1970.

Expansion

Throughout the 1960s and 70s Traralgon RSL underwent a number of expansions and renovations to accommodate growing interest and popularity. The introduction of service memberships in the 1970s and a large influx of people to the region saw the addition of a new lounge and large liquor store. In 1989 and 90 the main lounge was extended, as well as modern bathroom and kitchen facilities added.

Now

Now, Traralgon RSL consists of gaming rooms, a members bar, bistro and restaurant, function and venue space plus more entertainment, eating and social facilities. We now host great entertainment nights throughout the week, including every Friday night. Once managed by volunteers, Traralgon RSL now boasts a large staff looking after everything from administration to catering in our modern and comfortable surroundings.
